Molly plays soccer

Molly started playing soccer this year. We've never played with a soccer ball before this, so this is a whole new experience for all of us. I feel bad for not preparing her better, but she seems to have caught on fairly good. It does make me laugh when she has her soccer uniform on and is showing me dance moves from dance class......or when Foster is on the side-lines yelling for her and she turns to wave and smile while the rest of the girls are running on the opposite side of the field playing soccer. She seems to be having fun though and it's fun just finding out what she wants to do.

Before they start playing the games, the have a little practice.....this is much needed!

Molly's Birthday

Miss Molly turned 5 on August 31. I can't believe she is old enough for Kindergarten. The older she gets, the older Scott and I get. She is quite the sweet heart. She is very thoughtful and kind, and can be very helpful with Fos. She loves to dance, draw, color, "do homework", go to school, play with friends, play with Fos (sometimes), ride her bike and read. (Side note, we only have video footage, but the day after we got back from Germany, we told Molly she could probably ride a bike without training wheels, so after dinner we took them off and went outside. Scott held onto the bike a couple times and she was real wobbly, then he let go and she took off and rode up and down the street and in and out of driveways. It was pretty cute to see her riding this little bike, with her little legs going round and round. I think since she started riding on June 2nd, she's had all of 2 accidents.....that's my proud mama moment). 

When I asked Molly what kind of cake she wanted, she got out paper and pencil and drew a 3 tiered cake. She didn't put the mermaids on top, I added those. So, here I was off to attempt another cake. This time, Jamie let me make the fondant. She helped me wrap the cake......I don't know how you do that part one manned. 

Molly really wanted a friend princess party. She wanted everyone to come dressed up as princesses and just paint toe nails and get all fancy. Easy enough. Scott was out of town this whole week for work, so I thought I could do it myself. It turned out fine, but the day of the party (in fact an hour before princesses were supposed to arrive) I got on-line to try and find some fun party games.....little late for that. I would have needed to go to the store for supplies. Instead, we painted toe nails, ate pizza, ate cake and ice cream and danced to princess music. The girls seemed to have fun, so I guess I didn't need games this year after all.

Scott made this sign for Foster since I was out of town on his actual day, so we left it up for Molly and just changed out the name. It's nice having their birthdays just 4 days apart! It's a party all month pretty much!

This picture isn't great, but you get the idea of the princesses. We had  3 Rapunzel's, and about one of everyone else.....including a prince!

When Scott got home, we celebrated again giving her birthday presents from us, grandma and grandpa, and aunts and uncles.

I found this cute tutu at H&M in California. I figured since she was in dance again, she'd need another tutu!

We got this doll in Germany. It's our tradition now to pick up a doll from the countries we visit. Guess we better get visiting some more :) She loved it!

Like I mentioned she loves drawing and any kind of projects. These paints were a hit!

Foster's Birthday

Our little man is growing up. Foster turned 3 on August 27. We celebrated his birthday a few days earlier as my sister has the same birthday and all of us sisters, mom, one sister-in-law, and a few nieces went down to surprise her. 

Foster is becoming quite the little boy. It truly is amazing at how fast time flies by. Most days he is a joy to be around! He's just so boy and fun. One of my favorite things to do is tickle him because his laugh is so contagious. He loves trains, trucks, tools, cars and sometimes dolls (that's if his sister really wants to play with him :). 

Before his birthday I asked him what kind of cake he wanted. He totally surprised me when he said a "tool cake". What?......you mean cupcakes? Our little family doesn't eat a whole lot of cake so I was hoping to just make cupcakes or cookies or something easy. I was telling my good friend about his request and she said, "I'll help you if you want". Really? You mean make it for me right? hahaha, anyway, I thought sure, why not. I could attempt something like this. I never go all out so why not try at least once. 

I made the cake from scratch (because I didn't have a cake mix and didn't want to have to run to the store to buy one.....heaven forbid). I used a raspberry cream cheese filling to go in between the layers and to my surprise, that cake was good. I, especially don't like cake. Most are just dry and not worth it, but I think I had seconds on this one!

After I made the cake, the next day my friend, Jamie, came over to help with the fondant. She then told me we could make tools out of rice crispie treats and wrap fondant around them (she confessed she learned it on cake boss......who knew). So, that's exactly what we did. The handle, the wrench, the hammer, the screw driver and the saw are all made of rice crispies. Those were what the kids wanted!

I think it turned out pretty good. Everyone could tell it was a tool box (whew...) and everyone was impressed with my skills (thanks to Jamie).

First Day of School :(

First child, first day of school........bitter/sweet! I'm so excited for Molly to go to Kindergarten. She loves school, learning and socializing. What a perfect environment for her. But boy do I miss this little girl every day in the mornings. It's good for Fos and I to have that little time together, but I love going to pick her up and asking about her day. I almost cried once when we met her teacher and I thought, "oh my goodness, my little girl is going to school and she doesn't need me as much any more She's growing up!!!!!!!!!!.....wah wah wah"

Their theme in class is "have a flavorful year", so they got little ice cream stickers.

Mountain Bikers

Forgot about this post. We were right there by mountain biking trails so Scott did this a couple times with nephews and brother-in-laws. I think he had fun. Especially had fun posing for me!

RENO

Because most of us Walton's had done or were doing Germany Johnson Family Reunion this year, we opted for a laid back, low key reunion in Reno. It was perfect to have at Dan and Sarah's. They have a huge home, and it's close to Tahoe. Scott and I are really bad at taking pictures, so if you want to see what we did the other days, go to Amy's, Dan and Sarah's, or David and Mary's blog.

We arrived Wednesday late night, Thursday we went to a fun water park Dan and Sarah had not yet experienced, then the adults went out to dinner and then played mini-golf (I'm pretty sure I lost BIG time) and Scott and Mike had a play off because they were tied, but then Scott choked under pressure and gave up the winnings to Mike. Friday we went to Lake Tahoe (my most favorite lake) all day then came home and had a nice crock-pot dinner. Saturday we got up, some went to Annie and Leah's soccer games, and some of us waited to meet them at a Yogurt shop. We shopped and just hung out playing ping pong, water fights and had lots of fun just not doing a whole lot. Sunday, we got up, went to church then headed home. We had a great time. Thanks Dan and Sarah for Reno vacation of a lifetime!

Last night in Brian Head

The last night there (a few families had to leave so it was a little smaller group) we played Minute to Win It and Charades. It was so much fun. My wonderful husband put it all together and everyone kept saying how much fun they had.
