Random Summer Pictures

My niece, Emersyn, came back to Utah with us after our Family reunion in July. Her family was coming out in August, so she just came early with us. We didn't want her to get bored so we had plans almost every day. It was a lot of fun having her here and she was a big help! We went to the local pool, an indoor amusement park, the library, Boondocks and to other family members here in Utah.

Molly turned 4

So I tried doing this post when I did Foster's, but our computer shut down and I got frustrated that it took me this long to finally get it done. We celebrated Molly's birthday in Sacramento at my sisters house, then in Reno where we met up with Scott at his brother and sister-in-laws house. Molly didn't get any GRAND party, but she got multiples to make up for it. It's hard to believe that our baby girl is 4. Yeah, I know....what am I going to say when she's 18. I swear, the day she turned 4, she was out of the terrible 3's, literally! She is so sweet and kind and loving. She really tries to be a good example to her little brother and they play pretty good together (for the most part). We absolutely LOVE this little daughter of ours and are so blessed to have her in our lives! Not to worry her birthday was almost 2 months ago :)!

We went to a Fairy Tale Park in Sacramento for Molly's birthday. Can't get much more perfect than this for a little princess.

Fos Turned 2

So our little man turned 2 in August (yes, a little late blogging about it). Just as Molly leaves the terrible 2's and 3's, Foster enters. Oh the joy! He's sassy and tells us "no" a lot, but boy is this kid cute and pretty much gets his way. I never wonder who the boss is, because I know it's not me!

Molly was right there in the action of course. I think I've told her way too many times she needs to be an example because she kept trying to teach Foster how to rip wrapping paper!

Half Marathon

Call me crazy, but yes, I did another run. But this time it was only half of a marathon :). July 10th Farmington was having their festival days with a half marathon, so I decided to sign up. It was a run I have run often in my training since we are on the border of Farmington. I was just paying and getting a shirt for something I always do.

The race started at 6:30 and it was slightly brisk, but the kids are troopers for getting in the bike trailer and waiting for me to come running by, then ride the last 5 miles with me. It was so nice having Scott there. His support is very helpful and means so much to me.

To toot my own horn, I did finish 2nd women overall (first in my age group). There were only about 300 runners so really not that impressive.

I did have a PR (only ran one other half) of 1:30:32. If only I could sustain that for 26.2 miles.

House Projects

One of our top remodeling lists was our kitchen. It was fine, but the old yellowish oak cabinets were just looking a little out dated. We decided we would refinish them. That's when the project went from refinishing the cabinets to doing everything. I'm glad we did and in the long run, when it's our house for sale against the other one, hopefully our updated kitchen will win :). It was a process trying to find which granite we liked best, which back splash tile would go best with the granite and would black painted cabinets make our kitchen look smaller than it already is? Well this is what we decided.......

We took the doors somewhere to be professionally painted but did the drawers and facing ourselves. It actually wasn't too bad, but for time sake, I'm glad we paid to have the majority done.

In the process....things got a little messy. Guess that's what you get for remodeling.

And the finished project. Scott added these island legs. I was skeptical at first, but glad we spent the extra $$ for them. They add a nice touch.

My husband is soooooo handy. We had old warehouse bubble lighting before and Scott put in these can lights. They look so much better.

My handy husband also did the crown molding up. He's definately a keeper :).

And there you have it.....our new kitchen. It's our new favorite room!

4th of July

Don't fall out of your seats, but yes I am blogging. It's going to take a few days to catch up and I'll back track a bit, but here are a few posts. Over the 4th of July, we had my mom, sister Sarah and her husband Justin, son Dax and daughter Mykelti come for the weekend. Scott and I ran the Kaysville 5k (no photographer, therefore, no pictures). He made a PR of 7:06 min/mi ave. Not bad for an amateur. I ave a little faster because towards the end people started passing us and I couldn't have that. Scott didn't care so I took off. Anyway, back to the 4th, we ran that morning, then went to the Kaysville parade. The kids got way too much candy, but we helped take care of that :), then to my brother-in-laws family's house for a BBQ then back to Kaysville for the fireworks. It was a great small town day.
